Alan Roach is the professional name of sports announcer and former radio personality Kelly James Burnham. Before becoming one of the country’s best-known public-address voices, he worked in Colorado Springs radio under the air name Kelly O’Shea.
While working on air at classic-rock station KKFM, Burnham was asked to fill in as public-address announcer for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in 1990. That job helped launch a sports-announcing career that later included the Colorado Rockies, Colorado Avalanche, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, Colorado Rapids, Super Bowls, Olympic Games and other major events. He moved to Denver radio in 1991, joining KRFX.
Roach’s Southern Colorado connection is therefore both radio and sports: KKFM was his full-time radio home while the Sky Sox provided his first professional stadium-announcing opportunity.
Southern Colorado station: KKFM, as Kelly O’Shea.
Other name: Kelly O’Shea; real name Kelly James Burnham.
