COLORADO RADIO PERSONALITY

Chuck Buell

Chuck Buell became one of the signature personalities of Denver’s KIMN era. He arrived in Denver to attend the University of Denver in 1963 and worked weekends at KDAB. Within a year he was doing afternoons on KIMN, then Denver’s dominant rock-and-roll station.

Buell became heavily involved in KIMN’s promotions. In 1965 he accompanied 80 listeners on a whirlwind trip from Denver to St. Louis to see the Beatles during their second American tour. After four years at KIMN he moved to WLS in Chicago, where he worked evenings and afternoons and became music director.

Buell returned to KIMN in 1978 for afternoon drive, designed as a highly produced “morning show in the afternoon.” As music listening shifted toward FM, he moved to Y108 in 1983. His career also included major-market work in San Francisco, Houston, Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Diego and extensive voice work.
