COLORADO RADIO PERSONALITY

Cody Carlson

Cody Carlson was a Colorado Springs country-radio programmer and personality who led heritage country station KKCS/KCS during its final years.

In August 2004, KKCS hired Carlson as Program Director from KIXQ/Joplin, Missouri, where he had spent roughly a decade and had been PD since 2002. He replaced Shannon Stone at KKCS.

Under Carlson’s programming leadership, KKCS was named the Colorado Broadcasters Association’s 2005 Major-Market Radio Station of the Year. The station also won Best On-Air Contest, Best Sales Event/Remote Broadcast and Best Radio Sales Promotion, while the Mark, Sam and Craig morning show won Best Morning Show and Best Station Entertainment Personality.

By June 2006, as KKCS was being dismantled following its frequency change, national trade coverage reported that the station had dismissed its entire air staff except GM/PD Cody Carlson. After the KKCS era ended, Carlson moved across town to KCCY 96.9, where contemporary August 2006 coverage placed him in the 7 p.m.–midnight shift.
