J. D. Russell was an early manager of KKFM in Colorado Springs.
The 1964 FM Radio Annual lists Russell as manager of KKFM 96.5, then owned by Garvey Communications Systems. The station is listed with 23 kW effective radiated power and an antenna height of 2,300 feet.
Russell’s listing provides one of the earliest named management records yet located for KKFM, shortly after Garvey acquired the station in 1963 and several years before Rush K. Evans appears as general manager in later Broadcasting Yearbooks.
