Work in Colorado
Jared “Goldberg” Goldberg became program director of KIBT-FM 96.1 The Beat in Colorado Springs in late 2004. Radio & Records reported that he moved from assistant program director/music director duties at KKDM and KDRB in Des Moines to receive his first program-director appointment at the newly launched rhythmic CHR station.
KIBT quickly became a market leader. In a February 2005 R&R profile, Goldberg said the station rose from a 2.2 share to 9.8 and first place in its first book, finishing No. 1 overall and in every daypart among listeners 12+ and 18–34. He later served as KIBT’s program director and afternoon personality while helping develop its local-artist mixtape series with music director/night host DJ Madboy.
Radio & Records credited Goldberg and DJ Madboy with building the multiplatform project and reported that volumes 2 and 3 received the statewide recognition. The promotion combined local-artist selection, on-air programming, listener voting, texting, web content, retail distribution and sponsorship.
