Jim Burt is a Colorado broadcast engineer whose career included Clear Channel’s Southern Colorado operation before later engineering work in the Four Corners region. Burt’s identity as the same engineer who worked for Clear Channel in Southern Colorado in 2004 and later appeared in Four Corners engineering records has been confirmed to the Colorado Radio Archive through first-hand market knowledge.
By the 2002-03 M Street Radio Directory, Burt was already documented as chief engineer in the Four Corners market. Later M Street directories continued to identify him as chief engineer for stations in the Farmington/Durango region, including KNDN. His work expanded into contract broadcast engineering through BTA Inc.
Burt remained active in radio engineering decades later. In 2020 KSUT documented engineer Jim Burt helping complete a new Tribal Radio signal serving Towaoc, Cortez, White Mesa and Dolores. In 2025 Navajo Technical University credited Burt and BTA Inc. with an upgrade to KCZY’s transmission system designed to improve reliability and audio quality.
