Kat Jensen was music director of KKMG 98.9 Magic FM during the late-2000s CHR era.
Jensen was quoted nationally in 2007 while serving as KKMG music director in a discussion of contemporary hit radio’s increasingly tight, high-repetition playlists. At the time, Magic FM had played Timbaland featuring OneRepublic’s “Apologize” 78 times in a week. Jensen explained that radio programmers were responding to listeners’ limited daily listening windows by making sure the biggest current songs were likely to be heard.
Her comments provide a useful snapshot of KKMG‘s programming philosophy during a period when the station remained a major Top 40 outlet in Colorado Springs.
