Lee Duncan was an early-1970s KKFM personality whose career provides one of the earliest named links yet found to the station’s progressive/underground rock period.
Duncan’s preserved radio-career chronology places him at KKFM/Colorado Springs in 1971, after earlier stops at KUDU/Ventura, KACY/Oxnard, KAFY/Bakersfield, KYNO/Fresno, KDES/Palm Springs, KDAY and KRLA/Los Angeles, and KERN/Bakersfield. He later worked at KSPN/Aspen in 1975.
The 1971 KKFM date is particularly significant because a separate firsthand recollection from another broadcaster who worked at KYSN in Colorado Springs that year remembered KKFM as the city’s “underground” station. Together, the sources place Duncan at KKFM during its early progressive-rock period, although Duncan’s exact shift and job title have not yet been independently documented.
