  • Kathie J

Kathie J is a voice Denver listeners feel like they grew up with. If KS107.5 filled your mornings for much of the 2000s and into the 2010s, odds are she rode along with you in the car, the kitchen or the cubicle.

From the KOSI Bear to KS107.5

She first turned up in Denver radio doing promotions at KOSI, in the role of the KOSI Bear. Then she landed on KS107.5, where she was part of the morning team with Larry Ulibarri and Kendall B for 17 years. When that run came to an end in 2017, Larry and Kathie J kept their show alive through digital radio and eventually wound up on 107.1.

    TV and Jammin’ 101.5

Radio isn’t all she does. Kathie J won an Emmy in the best lifestyle host category for KDVR’s Colorado’s Everyday Show, and KCDO gave her a show with her own name on it, The Kathie J Show. She also spent time at KJHM Jammin’ 101.5, hosting during the midday hours.

    Coming home to KOSI

After close to a quarter century in Denver radio, she came full circle in December 2023, taking over afternoon drive at KOSI 101.1 as of Dec. 6. Program director Jim Lawson had been handling that shift himself and passed it to her, noting that he had followed her work as a fan for more than two decades. That puts the former KOSI Bear on afternoons at the very station where she began.
