Robert D. “Bob” Telmosse was a Colorado Springs businessman, advertising executive, philanthropist and radio owner who helped create KILO's album-rock identity.
Telmosse was a principal in KILO Broadcasting when the former KPIK-FM was sold separately from KPIK AM in 1978. Contemporary FCC transaction coverage documented Telmosse as the 51-percent owner of KILO Broadcasting, the company that acquired 93.9 FM for $302,074. Later KILO histories identify him among the local businessmen behind the new KILO operation.
Outside radio, Telmosse was widely known in Colorado Springs for operating the Denver Warehouse furniture business and for his highly visible local advertising. His advertising and marketing career included Tel-Moore Marketing, and he became deeply involved with local charities and civic organizations.
His Gazette obituary specifically remembered him as a partner in KILO Broadcasting and noted that the station rose to national prominence in album-oriented rock. Telmosse also founded the charitable effort that grew into the Bob Telmosse Christmas Giveaway.
Telmosse died May 23, 2006, in California after a long illness. He was 64.
