Scott Arbough is a Colorado radio programmer and producer whose 38-year career at KBCO-FM helped define the station and the modern adult-album-alternative format.
From KTCL to KBCO
Arbough worked as music director at KTCL-FM in Fort Collins before joining KBCO’s air staff in 1985. He became the engineer and producer for KBCO’s Studio C sessions and later served as the station’s program director for 23 years.
Programming and Studio C
Under Arbough’s programming leadership, KBCO remained a nationally influential Triple A station and earned Colorado Broadcasters Association Awards of Excellence, two National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Award nominations for Station of the Year and multiple Crystal Award nominations. KBCO was inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2018.
Arbough produced 35 Studio C charity CDs, two vinyl albums and two vinyl singles built from performances recorded at the station. Proceeds supported charities in Denver and Boulder, making the series both a document of Colorado’s music culture and a durable community fundraiser.
Retirement
Arbough retired from KBCO on March 31, 2023. His 38 years at the station included work as an air personality, engineer, producer and programmer, and he mentored the programming team that continued after his retirement.
