Steve McCoy is a veteran American radio personality best known for his long-running Atlanta morning partnership with Vikki Locke and for a later Colorado stop at KXKL-FM / Kool 105 in Denver.
Denver radio
McCoy joined KXKL-FM 105.1 as morning host on May 17, 2010, shortly after the end of his Atlanta run at WSB-FM/B98.5. The move brought one of Atlanta’s best-known morning personalities to Denver’s classic-hits station.
McCoy remained at Kool 105 for roughly a year and a half. In December 2011, he left Denver and returned to Atlanta to be closer to family, ending his Colorado radio chapter.
Earlier career
McCoy had already built a major-market career before coming to Denver. He became especially well known for the Steve & Vikki Morning Show with Vikki Locke, a partnership that lasted more than 18 years across Atlanta stations including WSTR and WSB-FM.
Parkinson’s advocacy
McCoy later publicly disclosed that he had been living with Parkinson’s disease. He became involved in advocacy work connected with the Michael J. Fox Foundation and spoke publicly about the disease and the need for additional research funding.
