Willie B is the on-air name of Stephen Meade, a longtime KBPI-FM personality whose work combines rock radio, automotive culture and Colorado community projects.
KBPI career
Meade grew up in Kentucky and decided in childhood that he wanted to become a disc jockey. He eventually made his way to Denver and joined KBPI in the early 1990s. After building an audience in other dayparts, he moved into mornings and became one of the most durable voices in the station’s “Rocks the Rockies” era.
Willie B’s career survived major ownership, format and frequency changes as KBPI moved from 105.9 to 106.7 and later to 107.9. In 2018 he marked 25 years with the station; by 2026, interviews were describing a run of more than three decades.
Cars, television and community work
A lifelong automotive enthusiast, Willie B hosted Willie B’s Garage and joined the technical crew of the SPEED television series Pinks All Out. His community projects have included large-scale vehicle events and charitable builds, including helping organize an approximately $80,000 home renovation for an elderly Colorado resident.
