KNZZ-AM

KNZZ (1100 AM), branded Newsradio 1100, is a commercial news and talk radio station licensed to Grand Junction, Colorado, serving the Grand Junction and Aspen areas. It is owned by MBC Grand Broadcasting, Inc. and carries national news, talk and sports programming alongside its regional service.

History

The station began broadcasting on May 1, 1926, as KFXJ in Edgewater, Colorado. It moved to Grand Junction on January 31, 1931. The call letters changed to KREX in 1956, KVEE in 1984, KJYE in 1989 and KNZZ in 1990. The KNZZ call sign has since been associated with its news-and-talk format. Sister stations include KGLN, KKVT, KMGJ, KMOZ-FM, KNAM, KSTR-FM and KTMM.
