KPRZ was the call sign used by a Colorado Springs FM station on 96.1 MHz from 1996 to 1999. Branded “Praise 96,” it carried Christian adult contemporary programming. In 1999 the station entered a multi-market ownership swap and adopted the KMOM call sign and a rock format.
History
Salem Communications created the Praise 96 identity after moving the KBIQ Christian adult contemporary service from 96.1 MHz to the stronger 102.7 MHz signal. The 96.1 station then used KPRZ and a religious music format. In 1999, a multi-market station exchange transferred the station to AMFM, after which it became KMOM. Later identities included KIBT and KBIQ. This record concerns only the KPRZ call-sign era.
