KPUB-FM was the original call sign of Pueblo’s 99.9 FM facility. It signed on in 1975 as the FM companion to KPUB 1480 AM.
Country simulcast
KPUB-FM simulcast the AM station’s country format. Because KPUB was then a daytime-only AM operation, the FM signal allowed the programming to continue after sunset and expanded its reach across Southern Colorado.
Separation from KPUB
The AM and FM stations were sold separately in 1978. The FM became KYNR, ending the direct KPUB simulcast relationship. In 1983 the facility became KVUU.
