KWYD-FM

KWYD-FM was a Colorado Springs-area radio station broadcasting on 105.5 MHz from Security, Colorado. It signed on April 8, 1973, initially with a country format. In 1975 it changed to Christian programming, and in 1989 it became KBZE, “The Breeze.”

History

The station’s 105.5 MHz signal served the Colorado Springs market from the eastern community of Security. The initial country format was followed by a Christian service in 1975. Following a sale in 1989, the station adopted the KBZE call sign and a new-age/smooth-jazz presentation. Later call signs included KHII, KSKX and KRDO-FM. The historical KWYD-FM era should be distinguished from the separate 1580 AM station that later used the KWYD calls.
