Arthur “Bus” M. Oaks was a Colorado Springs broadcasting executive and sales manager associated with KVOR 1300 and KSPZ 92.9 in Colorado Springs.
Broadcasting career
A former KVOR/KSPZ employee who worked at the operation from 1973 to 1978 remembers Oaks asAssistant General Manager and Sales Manager. The employee knew him as “Bus” Oaks, not “Buds.” Colorado Springs cemetery records identify him as Arthur “Bus” M. Oaks (1913–1981), and a 2026 family obituary for his son Charles also names his father as Arthur Bus Oaks.
The 1980 Broadcasting Yearbook listed Oaks as vice president of the ownership group controlling KVOR and co-owned KSPZ. The paired stations represented the AM and FM sides of a longstanding Colorado Springs operation.
The directory documents Oaks’ executive role in 1980, while the former employee’s recollection places him in management by the mid-1970s. The contributor also recalled that Oaks may have had earlier radio experience farther east in Colorado, possibly in Lamar, but that earlier station assignment remains unverified and is not yet linked in the archive.
