Bob Freeman was a Colorado Springs radio sales executive and manager associated with KKCS AM/FM and KIKX 102.7 during the 1990s.
Freeman’s work at KKCS extended beyond routine sales management. In 1995, Radio World quoted him as General Sales Manager of KKCS AM/FM during an industry discussion about radio pricing and sales strategy. Freeman described KKCS‘s decision to raise advertising rates and sell clients on the value and buying power of the station’s audience rather than competing primarily on price.
A mid-1990s Radio Business Report market directory lists Freeman as General Sales Manager of KIKX 102.7, working under General Manager Bob Gourley and Program Director Charlie Cassidy. The listing reflects the shared KIKX/KKCS operation at 5145 Centennial Boulevard.
By early 1997, Freeman had risen into general management. Radio Ink listed “Bob Freeman, KKCS, Colorado Springs” among its nominees for the Radio Wayne General Manager of the Year award. That January, Radio & Records reported that Freeman was leaving KKCS AM/FM to become General Sales Manager of KFSD/San Diego.
Documented Southern Colorado roles: KKCS AM/FM General Sales Manager; KIKX General Sales Manager; KKCS General Manager.
