Gabe Charboneau is a Pueblo-area media, promotions and events professional whose career included radio promotion in Southern Colorado before he became widely known as a mixed-martial-arts coach, promoter and community advocate.
Radio career
By 2004–05, Charboneau was serving as Promotions Director of KIBT-FM (96.1 The Beat) in Colorado Springs. Radio & Records profiled KIBT after its first full ratings book, when the newly launched rhythmic CHR station surged to No. 1 in the market. Program Director Jared Goldberg specifically credited Clear Channel CHR Brand Manager Todd Shannon, Operations Manager Bob Richards, Denver sister-station personality JoJo and “our Promotions Director, Gabe Charboneau” for helping establish the station.
The role placed Charboneau inside Clear Channel’s Colorado Springs operation during one of the cluster’s most visible format launches. A later professional biography described him as having roughly 15 years of experience spanning media, event management and marketing across radio, television and print.
Combat sports and event promotion
Outside broadcasting, Charboneau became a prominent figure in Pueblo’s mixed-martial-arts community. He founded the organization that evolved into WarriorBuilt MMA and worked as a coach, trainer, promoter and event organizer. His later work included leadership and marketing roles with combat-sports organizations, including Global Proving Ground, where he was identified as Vice President of Marketing.
Where are they now?
As of 2026, WarriorBuilt MMA continues to identify Gabe “Kuya” Charboneau as a founder and coach. The organization describes him as a longtime martial artist, coach, writer and Colorado business professional who has worked with UFC, Bellator and Strikeforce veterans as well as Olympic athletes. Charboneau has also worked in community programs in Pueblo, including fatherhood mentoring and advocacy.
