Kelly Michaels

Kelly Michaels is a Denver radio operations and creative-production executive whose Colorado career spans the launch era of Alice 105.9, Denver music radio and Salem Media’s talk and Christian stations.

Creating the sound of Alice

Michaels was the creative production director on the original staff of KALC-FM (Alice 106/105.9) when the station launched its influential modern adult-contemporary format in 1994. In 2004, after radio work in Chicago, Baltimore and Milwaukee, Michaels returned to KALC and sister KQMT-FM (99.5 The Mountain) as director of creative services, handling on-air imaging for both stations.

Salem Media Denver

Michaels also served as operations director and later operations manager for Salem’s Denver properties, including KNUS-AM, KRKS-AM/FM and KBJD. In that role, Michaels has overseen programming and production work and participated in lineup decisions at 710 KNUS.

Awards and recognition

In the Colorado Broadcasters Association’s 2023 Metro Market Radio awards, El Paso to Denver — The Immigration Crisis, credited to Mark Crowley and Kelly Michaels at KNUS, received an Award of Excellence for Best Use of Digital/Social Media.
