COLORADO RADIO PERSONALITY

Ray Skibitsky

Ray Skibitsky was an important figure in the transition from KADE to KBCO and later in the creation of Denver’s 96.5 The Peak. He joined KADE’s sales staff in August 1974 while the Boulder AM station was struggling financially. Skibitsky persuaded its owners to keep the station operating and helped move it toward progressive rock.

When Bob Greenlee bought KADE in 1975, Skibitsky remained with the operation as Greenlee acquired KRNW and developed KBCO. Skibitsky ultimately became KBCO general manager during its growth from a Boulder station into a Denver-market competitor.

In the 1990s Skibitsky became general manager of KXPK 96.5 The Peak, another locally focused album-oriented station that recruited several KBCO veterans.
