COLORADO RADIO PERSONALITY

Steve Scott

Steve Scott was a major Southern Colorado Top 40 and rock programmer whose career crossed KDZA, KYSN, KEDI/KCMS and KKFM.

Scott worked at KDZA/Pueblo during the early 1960s and later recalled helping move the station into rock and roll in 1964. He subsequently became a prominent personality at KYSN 1460 in Colorado Springs.

By 1973 Scott was managing and programming KEDI/KCMS. His preserved career chronology then places him at KKFM from 1975 through 1980. Contemporary trade material independently lists him alongside KKFM, and a period radio-industry directory lists Scott as program director with Bob Bailey as music director and John Bartholomew as news director at 225 S. Academy Blvd.

Scott’s KKFM years span an important transition: the station was documented as progressive rock in the mid-1970s and later appeared under broader contemporary classifications before its 1980s rock evolution.
