Val Hart, also known professionally as Valerie John, is a longtime Southern Colorado radio personality whose career included KKMG, KCCY and KATC.
Hart’s KKMG connection is independently documented. An October 2001 Radio & Records CHR/Pop roster lists Valerie Hart as Assistant Program Director of KKMG 98.9 Magic FM, working with PD Jason Hillery, MD Rob Ryan and cluster OM Bobby Irwin. First-hand Southern Colorado market information supplied to the archive also places Hart in middays on KKMG; that airshift remains identified as first-hand until a period schedule is located.
By November 2003, Radio & Records country listings identify her under the professional name Valerie John as KCCY Music Director. By 2007, R&R event coverage identifies Val Hart as a KCCY morning personality alongside Willie Fisher, confirming her move into the station’s morning show. A 2011 PR Newswire item likewise identifies Fisher and Hart as KCCY-FM morning DJs.
Country Aircheck also shows Hart’s role extending beyond Colorado Springs: in April 2011, the trade reported that the KCCY personality would voicetrack middays on sister country station WFUS/US 103.5 in Tampa while that station searched for a permanent replacement.
On Nov. 16, 2015, Country Aircheck reported that former iHeartMedia KCCY morning co-host Val Hart had joined Cumulus’ crosstown KATC in middays. She remained with KATC until 2018, when All Access reported that she returned to KCCY and Dallace Jade took over the KATC midday shift.
A 2014 Colorado Springs community publication identifies Val Hart of Y96.9 and her husband Jeff Peck, the personality known as Jammer.
