KAYK was the call sign used from 1983 until 1988 on Pueblo’s 1480 AM facility.
Erway Communications era
The station began as KTUX in 1960 and spent nearly two decades as country-formatted KPUB. After a brief KGMQ era, Erway Communications acquired the station in 1983 and renamed it KAYK.
Financial difficulties led to another ownership transition. Colorado Community Wireless Radio Company entered bankruptcy, and Yonker and Turner Broadcasting acquired the facility and changed the call sign to KRRU in 1988.
