KBZZ-AM was the longtime La Junta, Colorado identity of the 1400 AM facility now known as KBLJ.
History
The facility signed on in 1937 as KOKO on 1370 kHz, moved to 1400 kHz in 1941, became KBNZ in 1952 and adopted the KBZZ call sign in 1960. KBZZ remained the station’s identity until 1999, when the calls changed to KBLJ.
During the 1960s and 1970s, KBZZ operated as a locally focused small-market station serving La Junta and southeastern Colorado. Period directories identify local management and ownership figures including C. A. Denney and later Charles “Chuck” Denney Jr.
