KWES was a brief call sign on Colorado Springs’ 1460 AM facility from 1989 to 1990, between two periods using the KKCS calls. The station then returned to KKCS and later became KZNT.
Studio / Facility Timeline
- 1460 lineage: the facility signed on in 1956 under KAFA. The earliest physical studio address remains unconfirmed in the surviving primary-source material.
- By 1991: after the KWES period, the same 1460 operation was documented at 5145 Centennial Blvd., Suite 200 as KKCS.
- 1994–95: KKCS AM operated from 5145 Centennial alongside KKCS-FM and KIKX.
- 2003: the facility became KZNT.
