Don Martin built a long Denver radio career that included KTLN, KHOW, KOA, KMYR, KFML, KLAJ, KJAE, KICN and KIMN. He began experimenting with broadcasting while still a student at Denver’s South High School.
Martin became Denver’s pioneering airborne traffic reporter, flying over the metro area and giving listeners a view of traffic from above. He is credited with coining the enduring Denver traffic name “the Mousetrap” for the I-25/I-70 interchange.
As KIMN news director, Martin built a highly regarded news operation. When KIMN changed ownership he moved staff and equipment to KLAK/KJAE-FM, then later returned when KIMN’s ownership changed again. He was also remembered by a generation of commuters as KHOW’s “Sky Spy.”
