COLORADO RADIO PERSONALITY

Jonathan Wilde

Jonathan Wilde is a Colorado radio personality and programmer whose long career began with a notable early chapter in Colorado Springs as co-host of KKMG 98.9 Magic FM’s morning show. A September 1992 FMQB Colorado Springs market profile identifies Wilde and Erin Brady as the AM-drive team on KKMG‘s Magic Morning Zoo. Radio & Records captured the show’s promotional style that summer when Wilde and Brady judged KKMG‘s Spam Weekend contest, challenging listeners to create sculptures from Spam; entries included a human-buttocks sculpture called Baby Got Spam and a model solar system called Planetary Spam. Wilde subsequently became one of Colorado’s most decorated country-radio morning personalities. He later worked at KPLX in Dallas before joining KYGO in Denver in 1998. At KYGO, Wilde and Kelly Ford formed a long-running morning partnership, later joined by comedian Steve Mudflap McGrew. Country Aircheck reported that Wilde and Ford worked together for nine years and that the morning team earned CMA personality honors in 2002, 2004 and 2006. In late 2006 Wilde left KYGO for cross-town country competitor KWLI 92.5 The Wolf, initially for afternoons. He later returned to mornings at the station, subsequently known as KWOF, and eventually served as program director and morning host. His Colorado career also included mornings at KXKL/KOOL 105 and KOSI in Denver. After leaving KOSI in June 2017, Wilde spent nearly seven years outside radio. He returned in 2024 as Johnny Wilde for iHeartMedia, hosting mornings on KXBG/Big 97.9 in Northern Colorado; industry coverage also documented early afternoons on KWBL/106.7 The Bull in Denver and weekends on KRFX/103.5 The Fox. Radio-industry profiles describe Wilde as a three-time CMA Major Market Personality of the Year winner, a Marconi nominee and three-time ACM nominee. He began his career at KISR in Fort Smith, Arkansas and is an Arkansas State University graduate. Southern Colorado station: KKMG.
