KRYN was the call sign used by the 1490 AM station licensed to Manitou Springs, Colorado, from September 1987 to February 1988. It marked the facility’s transition from a simulcast relationship with KIKX-FM to a separate adult-standards service.
History
The 1490 AM station had previously used the calls KCMS, KEDI, KIIQ and KRTS. After the KIKX-AM and KIKX-FM operation was separated, the AM facility adopted KRYN on September 17, 1987, and broadcast adult standards. In February 1988 it became KXRE, the call sign retained by the facility during its later Spanish-language and noncommercial eras.
