KALC (105.9 FM), branded Alice 105.9, is a commercial hot adult contemporary and contemporary hit radio station serving the Denver metropolitan area. It is owned by Audacy and broadcasts from studios in the Denver Tech Center; its transmitter is on Lookout Mountain.
History
The 105.9 MHz facility began broadcasting on June 21, 1965, as KBPI. The station was associated with Denver rock programming for nearly three decades. At 6 p.m. on April 20, 1994, KBPI’s rock format moved to 106.7 FM. Secret Communications then introduced “Alice at 106” on 105.9, initially using the temporary call sign KAKL before adopting KALC. The Alice format combined adult-oriented alternative music with personality-driven presentation, and the concept was later used by stations in other markets.
After ownership changes and the formation of the Alice brand, KALC continued as Alice 105.9. The station also broadcasts an HD2 subchannel carrying Channel Q programming.
