Jason Janc is a manager, programmer and former on-air voice in Southern Colorado, and KILO and KRXP have been at the center of his career. If you’ve tuned in to rock in Colorado Springs at any point since the late 1990s, you’ve heard the stations he helped run.
Back as general manager
The most recent chapter began in 2020, when Bahakel called him back to run KILO and KRXP as general manager. He stepped into the job from retiring general manager Virginia Swanson.
Bahakel in Colorado Springs
Jason first joined Bahakel Communications in Colorado Springs in 1998, working as an announcer at KILO. The company later bought KYZX, the station that became KRXP, and Jason served as both its program director and an announcer through 2011. After that he went to Colorado Publishing Company for several years, finishing there as director of advertising.
Getting started
The radio bug bit Jason in 1988 while he was in college, in Minnesota and Illinois. In 1990 he went pro at WJBC and WWCT in Illinois, working as an assistant production director and announcer.
