Pam Kenny was a Colorado radio executive who ran Denver’s longtime classical station. If you tuned in to KVOD for symphonies and opera in the ’90s, she was the one keeping it going.
Running KVOD
By the early 1990s Pam was listed as president, general manager, station manager and sales director of KVOD 99.5 FM, Denver’s full-time commercial classical outlet. It served listeners who were a world apart from the rock, contemporary and country stations on the rest of the FM dial. She stayed with KVOD as its frequency and ownership changed, and a 1997 directory listed her as general manager of KVOD on 92.5 FM.
KNRC
Pam later moved to KNRC, where she was vice president of sales, and her earlier executive work at KVOD was noted. Her career is a good look at the less-visible side of Colorado radio: the managers who keep distinctive formats alive through ownership changes, frequency moves and consolidation.
